Work
description
The work, carried out during the project is split into 3 main parts
providing the European Commission with :
• a clear and regularly
updated overview on GNSS research related activities. During the
project, information will be continuously gathered from a wide range
of sources and analysed. Possible duplication, inconsistencies and
lack of co-ordination between monitored activities will be detected
and possible corrective actions will be proposed.
• on request guidance from
a set of specialized task forces focused on Galileo key issues such
as Controlled Access Services, frequency management, public private
partnership, certification, integration with other systems, etc.
Task forces are set up according to the need identified during the
project and involve experts from an open and flexible network.
• communication and dissemination
of information related to Galileo. In addition to the work described
above, the institutional partners provide a larger and totally independent
support and advice on Galileo key technical and management issues.
To achieve the above work, 3 types of activities are undertaken
by the consortium:
Management activities
Technical activities
Expert network activities
Management
activities
Management activities contribute to co-ordinate all the tasks performed
within the project in order to make sure that all the requirements
of the European Commission are fully and efficiently satisfied.
To achieve this objective, the consortium
has put in place a management structure composed of :
a Strategic Committee,
responsible for the strategic management of the project,
a Technical Committee,
responsible for the technical htmlects of the project,
a Project Co-ordinator
(FDC), for the operational management of the project.
Technical
activities
The work to be performed is split into 3 main technical work packages
:
WP 1000 "Monitoring,
reporting and advising" provides a clear and regularly updated
overview on GNSS research related activities.
WP 2000 "Specialised
guidance" provides on request guidance from a set of specialised
task forces focused on Galileo key issues.
WP 3000 "Administrative
support" provides a permanent and effective administrative
support to the other workpackages and to the European Commission.
Expert
network activities
These activities are providing the basic infrastructure needed to
operate the network of experts.
On management side, it consists in organising the task forces or
working groups (contacting the experts, preparing agendas,…),
monitoring their activities (respect of deadlines, contribution
gathering,…), arranging contractual htmlects (contracts with
the experts, reimbursement of expenses,…), etc.
On a technical side, the activities consist in identifying the work
to be performed by the experts (identification of key issues, creation
of task forces or working groups,…), preparing working documents
(problem definition, TORs of the task forces,…), participating
actively in the task forces or working groups, validating obtained
results, etc.
